My 2015 New Year Resolution...

I have to admit, I have majorly slacked in my efforts to frequently post to this blog. Life has absolutely taken a full-force, headlong plunge into 2015 and light speed. Between kids, animals, gymnastics, baseball, basketball, and all my chalkboard art, I just haven't had the energy to create one more thing. BUT, I vow to create at least one card a week. I know that doesn't sound like much, but most of my cards take a good 3 hours to complete. Crazy, I know!

That being said, I secretly hid away in my studio last night, plugged in my audio book and went to work. I was in the mood for something completely new. I'm so OVER Christmas! So, since the New Year is on the horizon, I decided to go that route. Of course, I didn't have any "New Years" stamp sets. Go figure. Another resolution... Cover all seasons/holidays. MUST ORDER NEW STAMPS PRONTO!

I am a lover of all things vintage and classic and I think this card encompasses both very well!

Punches & Thinlets ~ Stars, Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Small Oval

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration Birthday card! A Sweet Sorbet Birthday

Today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration, we're highlighting Birthday cards! So, I decided to do something OUT of my comfort zone. A clean card. No distressing, no aging, no antiquing. Just clean lines. I'm quite surprised that I really like it! I am totally in {love}with the new Sweet Sorbet Designer series paper. It's available in the SALE-A-BRATION catalog from Stampin' Up! This paper just SCREAMED Happy Birthday to me. I'm also completely obsessed with the new stamp sets that are available in the Occasions catalog. Especially all of the amazing arrows!

Take a quick minute and stop by Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration to check out some amazing Birthday cards!

Supplies
Cardstock ~ Crisp Cantaloupe, Pool Party, Summer Starfruit, Basic Black, Whisper White
Designer Series Paper ~ Sweet Sorbet
Ink/Markers ~ Sahara Sand, Pool Party, Crisp Cantaloupe, Basic Black, Summer Starfruit, Chalk marker, Whisper White Craft ink
Stamp Sets ~ Peachy Keen, Geometrical, Hello Lovely, Chalk Talk
Tools ~ Chalk Talk Framelits, Artisan Label Punch, Stampin' Up! paper snips, Dimensionals, Sponge daubers

1. Using the Artisan Label punch, punch out two shapes and glue them together

2. Cut out your pieces
Crisp Cantaloupe ~ 5 1/2 x 8 (makes a 4 x 5 1/2" card)
Pool Party ~ 3 7/8 x 5 5/8"
Sweet Sorbet DSP ~ 3 3/4" x 5 1/4"
Pool Party (strip) ~ 1 1/2" x 3 7/8"
Basic Black ~ 2 3/4" x 3 3/4"

3. Chalkboard effect ~ Using Whisper White craft ink and a sponge dauber, lightly swirl ink onto the cardstock. Smudge until smooth. Draw dotted line around the outside with the new Chalk marker.

4. Stamp arrows from Geometrical stamp set in Sahara Sand in opposite directions.

5. Stamp arrows from Peechy Keen and Hello Lovely in Crisp Cantaloupe and Pool Party and cut out with paper snips.

6. Stamp the "Happy Big Day" form the Chalk Talk stamp set in Summer Starfruit and cut out with paper snips.

7. Using the Chevron stamp from the Geometrical stamp set, stamp with Whisper White craft ink onto the chalkboard. I used my Stamp-a-ma-jig to line them up perfectly.

8. Assemble your card. Use Dimensionals underneath the "Happy Big Day" piece and the two arrows. You can just glue them on if you'd like, but this adds a little depth to the card.

{Inside}

1. Cut Summer Starfruit cardstock to 3 7/8 x 5 5/8"
2. Cut Whisper White cardstock to 3 3/4" x 5 1/4"
3. Lightly stamp arrows from the Geometrical stamp set around the outside of the Whisper White piece.
4. Stamp "Hooray for Today" from the Geometrical stamp set in Basic Black.
5. Stand back and smile, you did a fabulous job!

I hope you've found this helpful. I've noticed that I get so wrapped up in the project that I forget to take photos along the way. Let me know if you have any questions and I will gladly help you out. Thanks for stopping by!

Hearts a Flutter #145: I want More Amore'

I decided now was a good time to use up all of last year's Valentine's Day supplies. I still am totally in {love} with More Amore'. I really REALLY wish they would have continued it. What beautiful colors! Anyway, I still had a bunch of other retired embellishments that have been begging to be used. I'm a hoarder, so I save these things because I don't want to use them up, then they become retired and I'm stuck with them and can't really use them. Oh well, ya'll should know by now that I don't follow the rules!

Sweet Treats #144: A Gift of Love

I'm not normally a Valentine's Day kinda girl. It's usually all too mushy for me. I'm such a tomboy. Ugh! Anyway, I got a wild hair and decided to make something cute and Valentinesy. Yes, I know that's not a real word. I saw a cute little gift box on Pinterest this morning and just HAD to come up with my own spin on it. Besides, I have a LOT of retired Valentine's supplies that I need to use up! I really like how this turned out. I can't wait to stuff it with goodies and send it on it's way!

Smooch #142: A Sweet Change of Pace

After the Christmas rush, it was nice to get a little time to do something new. Valentine's Day is coming and it will be here before we know it, so I decided to {try} to get a head start. I don't have many {any} specific Valentine's Day stamp sets (I'll have to work on that), so I improvised.

I am in LOVE with Beautifully Baroque. I wasn't sure if I really would use it much, but so far I've used it QUITE a bit. I'm pretty happy with that purchase! This is a simple card, it was quick to put together and everything turned out right the first time!

The sketch is from Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration.

*I had to add a little "oomph" so I put in a cute little window. It was so simple, but it added so much.

Supplies:
Cardstock ~ Sahara Sand, Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla
Ink ~ Cherry Cobbler, silver emboss powder
Stamp Sets ~ Beautifully Baroque, Off the Grid, Ciao Baby, Itty Bitty Banners
Embellishments ~ Cherry Cobbler Chevron Ribbon

The Open Sea #141: A Ship in the Night

I've recently fallen {back} in love with this stamp set. I've only used it a couple of times so it feels new and exciting again. I created this card for my addition to Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration's Framelits Friday post. I couldn't be more pleased with how this turned out. Since it was a Framelits theme, I wanted LOTS of layers. I think I accomplished that. It's a fatty! Double postage for sure. I love how much depth this card has. Perfect for a nautical theme, right?

*The background for the card was created using sponges and markers.
*I stamped and colored a second ship and cut the sails out and added it to the original stamp. Popping one side of the sail out with dimensionals. It gave it an amazing 3-D look.

Supplies:
Cardstock ~ Crumb Cake, Marina Mist, Whisper White, Chocolate Chip (Core'dinations)
Ink ~ Crumb Cake, So Saffron, Soft Suede, Baked Brown Sugar, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Marina Mist, Not Quite Navy, Night of Navy, Black StazOn
Stamp Sets ~ The Open Sea, Itty Bitty Banners, Gorgeous Grunge
Embellishments ~ 1/8" mini brads, hemp twine

Soft Sympathy

I am addicted to French Foliage. I've been using the heck out of it lately. I always seem to get attached to something AFTER they retire it. Day late and a dollar short is my motto. Oh well, works for me. Once again, the need for a sympathy card sucks, but it WAS really fun to put this one together. I really like the color combo. Not sure if I'll be able to duplicate it ever again. lol

I really love doing detail work. The leaves seem to come alive with a little marker attention. Time consuming yes, but definitely worth it.

Supplies:
Cardstock ~ Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Soft Sky, Very Vanilla
Ink ~ Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Chocolate Chip, Baked Brown Sugar, Soft Suede, Soft Sky, Early Espresso
Stamp Sets ~ French Foliage, So Sorry, Truly Grateful
Other supplies ~ cream ribbon, burlap ribbon

Countryside Birthday

I'm ADDICTED to watercoloring! To get the background effect, I drew on a clear stamping block with my Stampin' Up! markers, sprayed it with water, then stamped it on. I then used Black Stayz On for the pickup truck image. Then, I went to town with my blender pen. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Paper ~ Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar, Pool Party Core'dinations, Very Vanilla
Ink ~ Pool Party, Bashful Blue, Gumball Green, Certainly Celery, Stayz On Black, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Pretty in Pink
