A Wonderful Life ~ In the Forest

My family went camping quite a bit when I was growing up. I remember it being nothing but fun! Now that I'm a farmer's wife and our busy time is in the summer, we don't get to go camping very often. In fact, I don't know if our kids have every slept in a tent outside the backyard. Kinda sad. Mental note... make it happen.

On the bright side, I created this cute little camper card using some of my favorite Stampin Up! products. Today at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration we're focusing on our favorite items from the new catalog. First off, how the heck do I narrow that list down? Second, how do I fit it all in one card? And third, I can only make one card for this post. Boo! 

I tried to do my best with just a few items. I really really love the new Lullaby Designer Series Paper. It has some of my absolute favorite colors in it. The main one being Crisp Cantaloupe. I think it's the best color (okay one of the best) in the catalog and the second one (which surprises me) Hello Honey. I wasn't sure if I'd like this color or not, but so far I love it!  I also incorporated embossing with the Arrows Folder. Finally, I topped it off by using a stamp from the Perfect Pennants set.

This is my very first attempt at a pop up card. Not sure if I like it or not. It seems to me that it might not be perfect after it's mailed and opened. I know, I know.. there are worse things to worry about.

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration ~ May Day Basket

Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration

May Day is right around the corner. I can't believe we're already a quarter of the way through the year. WHAT? I am still in the flowery Easter mood, so I decided I would make a flower basket. I used a simple box pattern, but added a few special touches.

When I think of baskets, I think of basket weave. So, I decided to make my own, and it was actually pretty easy! I love how this little basket turned out. I think it's a perfect little decoration to celebrate the 1st of May!

How To Basket Weave:

*Basket weave strips are 1/2" wide. Each piece has been sponged with Baked Brown Sugar on the edges.

*Glue each piece down so it doesn't unravel when you run it through the Big Shot.

Add some flowers! Thanks to the Stampin' Up! Spiral Flower Die, I was able to make lots of cute little roses to add to my basket. I wanted a lot of variation in color, so I sponged ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock instead of using colored cardstock. Yes, it's a lot more work, but I really like how it turned out!

Happy Mother's Day ~ Happy Hydrangea's

Mother's Day is quickly approaching. I know it is just barely April, but it will be here before we know it. For once, I'm ready!

Hydrangeas are one of my favorite flowers and I know they are one of my Mom's as well. I set out to create this gorgeous flower using the same technique as I used for the Poppy flower centers. It is pretty simple. Stack the punched circles to form a "mountain" and glue these adorable little "clovers" all over. Time consuming.... yes. Worth it.... definitely!

I wanted more subtle colors for the flower, so instead of using colored cardstock, I sponged the colors onto White cardstock. It also allowed me to get a variation in colors.
