Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration ~ June Color Challenge

It's color challenge time over at Stylin' Stampin' INKspiration! These challenges are usually the toughest for me. I have no idea why. You'd think it would be easier not having to come up with your own color scheme. I think it's difficult because I usually take things so literally. Luckily with this color scheme, it was fairly easy.

I instantly thought of flowers when I saw this color combination. Since Happy Watercolor has the BEST flower, I decided to go that route. I really love this flower. It is so fun to make it three dimensional. Which is one of my favorite things to do to a card. I like things that stand out!

Around the World ~ Stampin' Up! Sketch Challenge #AW17

I have been stuck on this impressionistic technique for some time now. I really need to jump onto something new, but I just LOVE this effect. I also really enjoy the {Happy Watercolor} stamp set. The flower is so much fun to color and give dimension to.

This sketch came from Around the World Stampin' Up Challenge. I strayed from the sketch a little. I decided to go with a vertical version. That's me... the rule breaker!

Easter Poppies

Easter is just around the corner. Can you believe it? It's crazy to think how quickly this year is going by. I remember when I was younger and impatient to be 16, my dad told me that time goes by faster and faster the older you get. Of course I thought he was exaggerating, but it turns out that he was right. I think time is flying by at mach speed!

With Easter on the horizon, I wanted to create a card that portrayed SPRING. To me, nothing says spring, more than bright beautiful flowers. I am absolutely IN LOVE with this {Pleasant Poppies} stamp. It has so many possibilities. I love possibilities!

I wanted to make these little beauties POP and stand out from the {Hardwood} background. They needed to be BRIGHT and cheery! To achieve that, I stamped them onto Whisper White cardstock, water colored them with a Blender Pen, then cut them out with my Paper Snips. Time consuming, yes. Worth it, definitely!

Thinking of Spring

Today I am dreaming of Spring. The beautiful sun has been shining all day. A rare treat for February in the Walla Walla Valley. This card just screams spring to me. I can't wait for the warm weather and all the beautiful flowers to bloom.

To create these flowers, I used a Blender Pen to achieve a "watercolor" effect. I highlighted the detail with a Strawberry Slush marker. The edges of the flower were curled using a Bone Folder. The layers were put together with Dimensionals.

Happy Easter... a Watercolor Wine Tag

I've been on an Easter kick lately. Here it is, not even Valentine's Day yet and my sights are already set on the next Holiday. Ever since the new Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog came out, I've been eyeing the {Happy Watercolor} stamp set. I mean, that flower stamp is FABULOUS! It immediately caught my eye. I knew I had to make it POP out and come to life!

My approach to making these flowers "POP" was to create several layers. The first layer is stamped directly onto the Baked Brown Sugar cardstock. I colored the middle layer with a marker. The top layer was colored with a Blender Pen. I highlighted the details on the flower with coordinating markers. The center of the flower was colored with the fine point of the marker and then I added a dot of Crystal Effects to the center. The edges of the petals were curled out with a bone folder. The stem was colored with a Lucky Limeade marker.
