A Little Rusty ~ Retro Sketches Challenge #121

I am obsessed with anything rusty. I'm a junk collector so the rustier the better! I was totally inspired today while surfing Pinterest. The colors are absolutely gorgeous. I love how they contrast and compliment each other. So, I set out on a mission to create my own rusty card.

Here's my Inspiration...

The sketch came from Retro Sketches for challenge #121. It's a fun one that really worked well for this card.

Here's the Sketch!

My initial idea was to make a gate with rusty hardware, but it didn't exactly turn the way I had it pictured in my head. I just plain ran out of room for hinges. Oh well, I really like the way the coloring turned out. I hope you like it too!

Here's my Creation!

Supplies Used:
Cardstock ~ Early Espresso, Baked Brown Sugar, Sahara Sand, Whisper White, Cajun Craze
Ink ~ Soft Suede, Baked Brown Sugar, Sahara Sand, Cajun Craze, Tangelo Twist, Hello Honey, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Soft Sky, Early Espresso
Stamp Sets ~ Hardwood, Chalk Talk, Gorgeous Grunge
Tools/Other Supplies ~ Sponges, Big Shot, Circle Framelits, Chalk Talk Framelits, 1/4" Circle punch, Paper Trimmer, Paper Snips, 1 1/4" Circle Punch, 1/2" Circle Punch, Paper Piercing Tool, Piercing Mat, Liquid Adhesive, Dimensionals
Embellishments ~ Antique Brads, misc. brads

So Long Hello Sailor ~ You're my Best Mate!

~So Long Hello Sailor~

I have to admit, I'm very upset that Stampin' Up! discontinued this stamp set. I really really love it and didn't get enough time to play with it. Yes, I could keep it... But I'm a current, in-the-now kinda girl.

This card was a blast to create. I know I've just about worn out the whole ship/nautical theme thing, but I just HAD to do it again. I love love love making these port holes. Especially the verdigris ones.

I filled the shaker with blue beads that I picked up at the local craft store. I think it makes it look like water, which is perfect for this theme!

I built this port hole in 3 layers using the Circle Framelits Collection. I colored them with sponges and {Gorgeous Grunge}. SO EASY!

What I Used:
Cardstock ~ Whisper White, Bermuda Bay
Ink ~ Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Crumb Cake, Smoky Slate, Cajun Craze, Island Indigo
Stamp Sets ~ Hardwood, Gorgeous Grunge, The Open Sea, By the Tide, Hello Sailor, Perfect Pennants
Tools ~ Paper Snips, Paper Trimmer, Hearts a Flutter Framelits Collection, Banner Punch, Circle Collection Framelits, Clear Window Sheet, Sponges, Early Espresso Embossing Powder, Heat Tool, Paper Piercing Tool, Shaker Frames (largest)
Embellishments ~ Brads, Hemp Twine (non SU)

Valentine Candy Box

Who doesn't love to receive chocolate on Valentine's Day? I'm still scrambling for gifts to give on Valentine's Day. Yes, I know it's still 2 weeks away, but if I don't get it all done soon, it'll never happen. I'm not doing too bad, I have the kids' classes and teachers taken care of. Woo Hoo! But, I still have a few people left. You know, like my husband, the kids... only the most important people. Sigh...

So, today I got the idea to make up my own little candy box. This is such a cute little package. Three different types of candy and little mini gift tags.

Mini gift tags inside

Cardstock cut to size. The DSP was used on the inside of the box.

My little trick to making the box "square"

Stamped window sheet

Apply window sheet to the inside of the lid using glue dots.

Stuff with candy!

Cardstock ~ Real Red, Coastal Cabana
DSP ~ Fresh Prints (Occasions Catalog)
Ink ~ Real Red, Coastal Cabana, StazOn (white)
Stamp Sets ~ Hearts a Flutter, Beautifully Baroque

Embellishments ~ Red string (not stampin' up)

Finished size: 4 1/2" x 6" x 1 1/4"

Base: 6 1/2" x 8" Score @ 1 1/4" on all four sides
Lid: 6 5/8" x 8 1/8" Score @ 1 1/4" on all four sides

Hello Sweet Sorbet!

Good Morning! The sun is actually shining! I couldn't believe it when I went out to feed my horses. It totally made my day... and that was before 9am! It's gonna be a good one, I can feel it.

I created this card late last night. I don't know about you, but that's when I work best. After everyone has gone to bed. Of course it helps that I'm an insomniac. I'd much rather play in my craft room than stare at the ceiling.

I used the sketch from Mojo Monday. It's a fun one with lots of layers (my favorite!). I may have derailed a little along the way, but this was my take on it. I am totally obsessed with this Sweet Sorbet DSP from the Sale-a-Bration catalog. It's FABULOUS! Since I'm a horsey kinda gal, I wanted this card to have a southwestern kind of feel to it. When I saw this DSP in the catalog, I knew that was how I was going to use it. I'm also totally obsessed with the arrows too. So, I wanted to cram as many as I could into this card. It was a perfect way to end a crazy busy day!

Monday Madness!

I now wake up giddy on Monday morning. I never thought I'd see the day. Monday's have a whole new meaning to me now that I'm an OBSESSED stamper. I wake up, feed my horses, grab a cup of coffee and go straight to Mojo Monday's blog to see what the new challenge for the week will be. Here it is. What will YOU come up with?

Here is what I came up with. I am {smitten} with the new In Colors. This is the first time I got to use this stamp from Chalk Talk. I LOVE how this turned out. Sweet!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Specialty DSP, Coastal Cabana, Whisper White, Crisp Cantaloupe
Ink ~ Crisp Cantaloupe, Coastal Cabana, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight
Stamp Sets ~ Chalk Talk, Gorgeous Grunge, Lovely Little Labels
Other Supplies ~ Paper Doily, yellow ribbon (misc.), white ribbon (misc.), pool party ribbon, vintage faceted buttons, vintage boutique buttons, Sizzlits large paper doily

Technique:
*I created by own DSP for the banner behind the Chalk Talk stamp, with Whisper White cardstock and my Brayer tool. Using Bermuda Bay ink, I rolled it then built different layers with Gorgeous Grunge stamps. I really love making my own DSP. It seems a lot more personal to me. It's something that no one else has. <3
