Truly Retro

Freedom! The kids went to play at a friends house today. Woo Hoo! That means my house will stay clean for more than 5 minutes and I get some STAMPING TIME! I'm taking every second I can get these days. We're still right in the middle of Harvest. I swear this is the longest year ever, or at least it feels like it. Probably because it's keeping me from my woman cave.

I felt a bit like Cinderella today. Mentally thinking, "Now if I manage to get all of my house cleaning done, I might have enough time to squeeze a card in." Rambling to myself is nothing new. My kids think I'm crazy. I like to have a conversation with the vacuum cleaner. It knows all my deepest and darkest of secrets.

As it turns out, I had JUST enough time to crank this one out. I created it for Retro Sketches challenge #74. I had fall colors in mind for this one. We're getting closer and closer to those pumpkin spiced drinks that I love! I also decided to change the way I photograph my cards. I'll work on the lighting...

A CASE of Color

I'm loving this bright and vibrant card. I did a card last week for a CAS challenge. CAS as in Clean and Simple. Clean and simple is a challenge in itself for me. I like messy, grungy and vintage. The latest challenge from CASE Study is all about color. Here is what I came up with. I kinda like it! Since my stamping time is limited due to Wheat Harvest, I'm doubling this for CAS(E) this Sketch challenge #38 too!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Whisper White, Strawberry Slush, Calypso Coral
Ink ~ Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo
Stamp Sets ~ Positively Chevron, Gorgeous Grunge, Chalk Talk
Supplies ~ Rhinestone Basic Jewels, Hardware Clips Essentials

Oh, Hello Friday!

Another week has flown by. We're wrapping up week 2 of Harvest. The combine sat at the shop for a better part of the day having a new tire put on. Seems like a simple task right? How about when your tires are taller than you are? I stood around and watched the guys work on the combine for a good 5 minutes before I decided it was just too darn hot for me (even though I was in shorts and a tank top and the guys were all in coveralls). I ran home and locked myself in my woman cave. I wanted to do something with a "wheat" color in it. This just popped into head. I've been wanting to combine these colors for a while. I think it worked out well. I created this card for Fab Friday's challenge #23 and will also double for A.R.T. Card Challenge #7 (Anything Goes).

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Wisteria Wonder, Basic Gray, Whisper White
Ink ~ Wisteria Wonder, Basic Gray, So Saffron, White StazOn

Misc. Supplies (non-Stampin' Up!) ~ white linen fabric, tule

*For the cute little linen flower, I cut a strip of white linen fabric, colored it with So Saffron ink and the Brayer tool and then folded layers onto the Antique Brad.
*For the Oh, Hello banner, I started off with Whisper White paper, colored it with So Saffron ink and the Brayer tool.

Sailing Past

I got a little time to play in my woman cave this morning. I can't take credit for the idea, I saw a similar card on Pinterest. I just LOVE how it turned out though. I'm totally going to start doing this technique more often. It's super time consuming, but it's SO worth it! I created this card for Mojo Monday Challenge #303

Thanks...

I am SO thankful for time to work on my projects today! Thankful that my hard working hubby decided to not work 7 days a week this Harvest. Thankful for time with my little girl in our woman cave. Thankful for the beautiful (although HOT) weather. I am thankful for so many things today. It makes me smile.

I am trying to get a head start on my holiday cards. I thought that I'd put something together for Thanksgiving today. I think I like the way it turned out. I put LOTS and LOTS of layers of stamps on this one. I LOVE doing that.

So...Fine?

I set out to create a sympathy card. I hate making these. They mean something sad happened. But, on the positive side, I got to use my Positively Chevron stamp again! I have had the Fine Feathers stamp set for a LONG time, but I think this is only the second time I've used it. I'll be using it more from now on. I used the sketch provided by Retro Sketches for challenge #73, of course I embellished on it a bit. I LOVE how this turned out.

Try Stampin' During Harvest

My husband is a wheat farmer and Harvest is in full swing on the Farm. To make it worse, it's HOT. We have temps over 100. Too hot to do anything. YUCK! I sent the kids to the pool and locked myself in my woman cave. This card was created for Try Stampin' on Tuesday's challenge #127.

What better way to think "frosty" thoughts? Make a Christmas card in July! I purchased this stamp set a while back and haven't had much time to use it. I LOVE how it turned out!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, Whisper White
Ink ~ White Stazon, Basic Black, Smoky Slate, Night of Navy, Basic Black, Crumb Cake

Other Supplies (Not Stampin' Up!) ~ Blue ribbon, spray glitter

******Made the Top 3 at Try Stampin' on Tuesday!!!

I'd rather be in Bermuda

Is it hot enough for ya'll? It's over 100 here. I just about FRIED when I went out to get the mail. YUCK! I don't like it when it's this hot. So, I sent the kids to the pool and locked myself in my woman cave. I'm desperately trying to catch up on some challenges.

This card was created for Retro Sketche's Challenge # 72. I think I barely made it by the skin of my teeth on this one. It closes today! I chose these colors for another challenge that I missed out on. I love how they go together. I think I'll be using them again. Almost all of the supplies are Stampin' Up! With the exception of the burlap and the linen fabric. My daughter kind of came up with the idea of using fabric. I was looking for a way to make this vintage flower with Stampin' Up! Colors. They don't make designer fabrics anymore. Tisk tisk! So I had to come up with my own. I bought white 100% linen fabric and used my Brayer tool to apply the color. PERFECTION! It's the exact look I was hoping for. She's a genius and she's only 7!

Paper ~ Baked Brown Sugar, Whisper White, Very Vanilla

Clean and Simple... It's MADNESS!

Wheat harvest on the Farm is in full swing. Because of that, I am now allowed about 3 hours a week to make cards (boo!). I've been so behind in challenges this week, so I'm kind of cheating. Or killing two birds with one stone (sounds better than cheating). I combined two different blog challenges into one card. Work smarter, not harder right? I skipped over to the A.R.T blog to see what the new sketch was (Challenge #6.) It's pretty simple, but the challenge for me is that it has to be "Clean and Simple". Easier said than done. I don't do simple. I don't do clean. And rarely are my cards easy. I almost NEVER make a white card. Mainly because my inky fingers ruin it before it's finished.

What to do for color... I found the latest challenge at CASE Study Challenge Blog. CASE Study #150 is a kaleidoscope of color. Use color. Lots of color. Simple enough right? I sat in front of my ink for who knows how long. Pondering, changing my mind, getting frustrated... all of the many steps of frustration. Finally I decided on using the new In Colors. I wanted to keep it crisp and clean. Here is what I decided to do. I hope you like it. It's totally new for me. Oh, I did grunge it up just a little. I couldn't help myself. I'm through with purchasing DSP. It's too spendy, there are never enough pages of my favorites and most of it just doesn't go with my style. So, I made my own.

I created it today for CAS(E) this Sketch challenge #36.  It's the first time I had a chance to play with some things from my latest Stampin' Up! order. I have been SO behind on my card challenges lately. I haven't had much time at all to create {sad face}. So, I created this card for The Paper Player's Challenge #155. Here is what I came up with. For something different, I tried to stay away from the traditional Christmas colors.
