Light as a Feather...

I love peacock feathers. So much that I have one inked on my back! I have always loved the Fine Feathers stamp set. I don't use it nearly enough. I used the sketch from Hand Stamped Sentiments for challenge #167. It's a fun sketch. Lots of room to create!

The Sketch

My Take...

Slight Detour...

So... I'm a Gemini. I'm eclectic. I'm scattered, unpredictable and hard headed. When I want something, I want it done yesterday. I hate waiting for anything. So... Thanks to Pinterest, I got the idea {this morning} to transform our boring and outdated nightstands into something magnificent. Wait? For what? Plan? Yeah right! I marched myself down to Home Depot this morning after I dropped my girl off at school. Chose a color, bought a brush and high tailed it home.

One coat of paint {which was the perfect color}, a little bit of elbow grease and BAM! I wish I would have taken pictures of them before I got my hands on them... but that would have required planning. I don't plan. Since I don't plan, had to head BACK to town to pick up some stain. Maybe should have put a LITTLE thought into this huh?

I can't wait till the hubby comes home. I didn't run this project by him. Why would I? He'd probably say "no" anyway. If it's not broke, don't fix it. Common farmer knowledge. Very frustrating for an eclectic, scattered, unpredictable and hard headed wife ;)

What do you think of my little handy man? Quite dashing I think, but then I'm a little biased. He didn't last long though. Thankfully my attention span is a little bit longer than his...

Done!!!!

I'm in {LOVE}

Now, what else can I paint?

Many Leaves... Many Loves

Vacation is over. Kids are back to school. Summer is ending and Fall is in the air. I enjoyed my first Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks this morning. First of the season I should say. I'm a longtime addict. Oh Starbucks...

Since the kids are both at school today (I have one in preschool that only goes part time), I thought I'd get back on track and get a card created. We visited family in Seattle, Wa. over the weekend and I needed to come up with a Thank You card. No, I didn't have any in my inventory, believe it or not. Oh darn, an excuse to make one. he he!

This card makes me think of warm cozy Sunday nights, hot tea, fuzzy socks and the kids giggling under their livingroom forts. I used the sketch from Retro Sketches challenge #78. It was a fun one. Lots of room to be creative!

Here is what I came up with... I love everything about this card. Love the colors, love the textures, love the layers, love the leaves... Many loves!

Supplies:
Cardstock ~ Soft Suede, Very Vanilla, Baja Breeze
DSP ~ Sweater Weather
Ink ~ Baked Brown Sugar, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Pear Pizzaz, More Mustard, Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke, Baja Breeze
Stamp Sets ~ French Foliage (retired), Harvest of Thanks (Holiday Catalog)
Others ~ Woodgrain embossing folder, Apothecary Accents, Artisan Label punch, Adorning Accents Edgelits
*Non-Stampin' Up! brass brads, linen

Whew! That was a lot. It took me a good part of 3 hours to complete this card. I kept changing things and adding things as I went along. Of course I really didn't have a plan except for the sketch. I love my whims!

WHOOP WHOOP!!! This card was chosen as the RetroSketches ROCKstar!

Trouble Again

There's trouble again. No, this time it's not my 4 year old. It's SU's New Toil and Trouble stamp set. I LOVE this set. If you know me, you know I love skulls. I had a lot of fun putting this card together. I originally created it for Retro Sketches's latest challenge. I'm still going to enter it, but I'm not sure I really kept to the sketch. Funny how that happens. Oops!

Thinking of You

This card was created for Mojo Monday's latest challenge, but I missed the deadline by one  hour. Really? Such is my luck, he he he! Oh well, I still have a purdy card to show for my effort. Here is what I came up with. This is the first time I've used this stamp, even though I've had it for quite a while. I really liked how it turned out. Love the colors. I swear, that Calypso Coral speaks to me. I also love the DSP. Unfortunately it's retired {pout}.

Toil & Trouble... with a little Poison on the Side.

Woo Hoo! My Stampin' order came! I am finally getting my hands on Toil and Trouble. I am obsessed with skulls. I don't know why, but I love them. So, when the Holiday catalog came out, Toil and Trouble was the first on my wish list.

I had a lot of fun playing with it today. I have so many more ideas burning in my head. I created it for Try Stampin' on Tuesday's weekly challenge but I'm not sure it really fits with the sketch. I got a little off track. Oops! I decided to make my own paper. I think I'm going to call it MCP instead of DSP. Don't get me wrong, I love Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper... BUT, everyone else has it too. I want to be different. Go figure. Here is what I came up with. I think it came together nicely.

Supplies:
Paper ~ Whisper White, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla
Ink ~ More Mustard, Pear Pizzaz, Rich Razzleberry, Early Espresso, Cajun Craze
Stamp Sets ~ Off the Grid, Gorgeous Grunge, Toil and Trouble, misc. alphabet stamp set
***I did not use any SU embellisments for this card.

I used the Brayer tool to make the More Mustard and Pear Pizzaz paper. I like the effect better than using SU cardstock.

Woo Hoo!!! This card received a special mention over at Try Stampin' on Tuesday!!!

Midnight Mojo

Wheat harvest is wrapping up and I'm going to get my daily crafting time back very soon. I can't wait! I sneaked out to my woman-cave after everyone went to bed. It makes for a LATE night for me, but totally worth the sanity it brings. Even though I'm sleep deprived, but that's pretty much normal for me.

I finally got a chance at Mojo Monday's latest sketch. This one was pretty cute. I had a lot of fun with it. I'm still working on my photography skills. I think I need more light. Off to Home Depot!

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Very Vanilla, Pistachio Pudding core'dinations
Ink ~ Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Baked Brown Sugar
Stamp Sets ~ Chalk Talk, Shop Around, Positively Chevron

Non-Stampin Up supplies ~ burlap, cream ribbon, hemp thread

Hump-Day Happiness...Get Over It!

Well, it's hump-day folks. Half way there...Get over it. Harvest is wrapping up (knock on wood) and I'm about to get my daily stamping time back. I snuck out to my woman cave lastnight after everyone went to bed. I stayed up WAY too late. Oh the things we do for sanity.

This card was created for Retro Sketches Challenge #75. I really liked the sketch. As always, I deviated from it a bit. Once again, Crisp Cantaloupe took over. I love how it gives the edges of the paper a vintage look. My fav! I think this is the first time I used Pistachio Pudding. I'm still on the fence of whether or not I like that one. I think it all goes together pretty well. What do you think?

Truly Grateful 3D

Anything but a card they said. Challenge it will be. This was created for The Paper Players latest challenge. A challenge indeed it was. I have been stuck in my little happy place creating cards for who knows how long. I've really never done any 3D objects. It was a really fun little project. Something new and different. I've been collecting jars for quite some time. I think this one was a jalapeno jar (don't worry, I washed it first). I can't stand throwing things away that I think may someday turn into a craft project.

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Early Espresso, Crumb Cake, Very Vanilla, First Edition DSP
Ink ~ Early Espresso, More Mustard, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets ~ Gorgeous Grunge, Positively Chevron, Truly Grateful
Other Supplies ~ Linen fabric, burlap fabric, burlap ribbon, pool party ribbon

Just for Fun

For ONCE I might just be on time! I always think about holiday projects a little too late. This time, I just might get it all done BEFORE it's too late. I created this fun little jar today. I think it's pretty cute. Not sure what I'll use it for, but the kids will like it.

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Basic Black, Whisper White, Perfectly Plum
Ink ~ Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie, Pear Pizzaz, Perfectly Plum
Stamp Sets ~ Googlie Ghouls
Embellishments ~ Burlap ribbon, misc. purple ribbon

Shop Around

I purchased the new roller stamp "Shop Around" from Stampin' Up! a while ago. I keep forgetting I have it because it's the only roller stamp I own, plus I haven't really found a home or it to store in yet. So, I was excited to put it to use. I am absolutely in LOVE with Crisp Cantaloupe. It' SCREAMS vintage to me. So, I set out to create a shabby, chic, vintagy card. I think it works well.

Supplies Used:
Paper ~ Very Vanilla, Early Espresso, Crisp Cantaloupe (core'dinations)
Ink ~ Crisp Cantaloupe, Crumb Cake
Stamp Sets ~ Chalk Talk, Shop Around, Positively Chevron
Other Supplies ~ Labels Collection framelits, Window rames Collection framelits, Designer Frames embossing folder
Embellishments ~ Ruffle Stretch Trim, Antique Brads, In Color Boutique Details, Vintage Faceted Designer Buttons, Burlap

*Still working on perfecting my photography skills.
