Monthly Card Swap {MAY} Challenge

So, a while back I joined a monthly card swap hosted by one of my best gals. She is a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. There are 8 of us in the group. Each lady gets to choose a design idea for one month. I got to choose this month's challenge. Here is the criteria...

Colors

The Layout

And here is what I came up with...

I had so much fun with this card. The colors went together so well {I thought}. I was even able to use one of the BRAND SPANKIN' NEW stamp sets from the new 2013-2014 catalog! There were many stages to this card. To be honest, it took a L-O-N-G time to complete. Probably a little more elaborate than I should have done, but I just LOVE this look!

Supplies Used for this card {Where do I start...}
Paper ~ Soft Suede, Specialty DSP, Whisper White
Ink ~ Soft Suede, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Pretty in Pink
Stamp Sets ~ Fresh Vintage, Oh Hello, Label Love
Other Supplies Used ~ Paper Doilies, Antique Brads, Vintage Trinkets

Acrylic Distress

As a self-proclaimed vintage technique whore, I can't believe I never thought of this. I have SO many acrylic paints it's not even funny. I think I need one of those displays they have at the craft store where they sell paints. It's ridiculous. I stumbled upon this today. Yes, it was from Pinterest. I seriously have a problem. Admitting it is the first step, right?

Okay, so my YouTube link is being cranky with me. I cannot post the actual video to my blog, but you can follow the link above to watch it on youtube. Enjoy!

Birthday Boy!

My baby brother is having a birthday. I am always trying to find masculine card ideas. I FINALLY got these stamp sets a while back and this is the first time I've had a chance to work with them. I'm still not 100% in love with the design, but I'm told we are our worst critics.

Oh Whale!

OMG this was fun to make. I saw the idea on Pinterest. I swear I should start up a support group for Pinterest. I feel like I start out EVERY post with "I saw this on Pinterest". But anyway, I saw this idea the other day and just HAD to make one. It was SO stupid simple. I love how it turned out. I made several in pink, several in blue and a few of these...

All it took was a few clear plastic zip-lock bags and some blue hair gel... Such a great idea. I wish I were this creative on my own. lol!

Crisis Averted!

Whew! After a near disaster in my crafting cave, all seems to be well. Our water softener is right next to my craft corner in the basement. It decided to spring a leak and spray water everywhere and flood the basement. By the grace of God, it totally missed all my stuff. SO THANKFUL! I can't wait to get down there and get back to work. I still can't believe it was all saved.
